Prologue to
The OpenSkies Program
Aviation is a significant contributor to greenhouse gas emissions, which contribute to global warming. In fact, it is estimated that aviation accounts for about 2% of global greenhouse gas emissions, primarily from jet fuel, which releases carbon dioxide and nitrogen oxides.
Efforts to develop more fuel-efficient airplanes and to use alternative fuels, such as biofuels and e-fuels, have been underway. However, the scale of the problem is still significant. Achieving net-zero aviation will take time, and we cannot afford to wait until we get there.
The Purpose of
OpenSkies Program
RESORSUS has designed an aviation industry–specific program in which aviation-aligned carbon credits like CORSIA are used and retired with environmental integrity.
Program Goals
-
Help Mitigator Parties compensate for their emissions by financing emissions reductions elsewhere.
-
Support financing for the fundamental components of global, regional, and national emissions reduction policies, carbon markets, and their supporting projects.
-
Assist industry stakeholders to finance greenhouse gas mitigation with minimal effort.
-
Draw attention to climate change across the aviation industry.
Get in touch for a sustainable future.
